This report is a summary of the recommendations as outlined in the Prince George’s County Youth and Gang Taskforce Report 2009. The Committee achieved its primary goal of bringing together numerous agencies and organizations to communicate and brainstorm about youth and gang violence.

Office of Youth Strategies and Programs
The Office of Youth Strategies and Programs provides outreach, guidance and support to government, faith-based and nonprofit organizations that provide services to children, youth and families. We promote and participate in a wide array of community meetings and programs which plan and offer services to children and youth to ensure their safety and well being.
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
OJJDP provides national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond to juvenile delinquency and victimization. OJJDP supports states and communities in their efforts to develop and implement effective and coordinated prevention and intervention programs and to improve the juvenile justice system so that it protects public safety, holds offenders accountable, and provides treatment and rehabilitative services tailored to the needs of juveniles and their families.
Best Practices To Address Community Gang Problems PDF (1.7mb)
This Report provides guidance for communities that are considering how best to address a youth gang problem that already exists or threatens to become a reality. The guidance is based on the implementation of the Comprehensive Gang Model (Model) developed through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), and most recently tested in OJJDP’s Gang Reduction Program.
