Today, across this nation and in Prince George's County, we commemorate the Twelfth Anniversary of 9/11. Nearly 3,000 of our fellow Americans perished during the terror attacks on our homeland, including twenty-three Prince Georgians, representing the greatest loss of life among the jurisdictions in this region. We will never forget their ultimate sacrifice, and we will always remember the heroism of our nation's first responders who bravely put themselves in harm’s way.
This is also a time for us to honor the men and women of our armed forces who served and sacrificed to prevent a repetition of such terrible events. Their exceptional courage and willingness to answer the call of duty have kept our County and our Country safe.
On behalf of the Prince George’s County Council, I ask that all Prince Georgians keep the victims’ families, friends and loved ones most directly affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.
