STATEMENT FROM PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY COUNCIL CHAIRMAN MEL FRANKLIN ACKNOWLEDGING EARTH DAY

The Prince George’s County  Council recognizes today as Earth Day in Prince George’s County and worldwide.  As a global effort, Earth Day is celebrated in more than 192 countries every year on April 22 to honor, protect and appreciate nature and the environment.

Going and growing green is a big effort and greatly encouraged here in Prince George’s County.  My Council colleagues and I ask that County residents do at least one thing today to reflect good stewardship over the precious gifts of our environment and the earth.

Consider starting a clean-up campaign in your neighborhood or joining with your local civic association or PTA to adopt your local highway.  We must plant a new level of consciousness about our environment to promote continued green growth locally and on a global level for generations to come.
