Work Group Receives Public Comment on Proposed Task Force Report and Recommendations

The Prince George’s County Foreclosure Task Force, established by the Prince George’s County Council under Council Resolution 02-2012, will convene on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. to review and receive public comment on the Foreclosure Task Force Draft Report and Recommendations, currently available on the County’s website.

The meeting will be held at the County Administration Building, in Council Committee Meeting Room 2027, 14741 Governor Oden Bowie Drive in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

The Foreclosure Task Force is charged with reviewing and evaluating the County’s response to foreclosures, and recommending appropriate policies to address the impact of foreclosures in the County.  Emphasis is placed on prevention, maintenance, and administrative policies and procedures in the foreclosure setting.

Council Vice-Chair Obie Patterson (D) – District 8, who proposed the legislation establishing the Task Force and who serves as its Chair, encourages residents to review the report and share their thoughts on the proposed recommendations.

“The Foreclosure Task Force has closely examined the County’s response to foreclosures and this draft report is a reflection of hard work on this issue.  I invite residents to review our findings, and offer their comments as we continue to work together on this prevailing issue in Prince George’s County.”

Foreclosure Task Force Members include the Chair of the County Council’s representative; the County Executive’s representative; and the director or a designee from the County’s Department of Housing and Community Development, Department of Environmental Resources, and Office of Community Relations.  The Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court of Prince George’s County or their designee; the Secretary of the State Department of Housing and Community Development or their designee; a representative of a Prince George’s County based bank or mortgage company and a not-for-profit housing organization providing foreclosure related services are also task force members.  Additionally, the Task Force includes two representatives of the Prince George’s County realtor community and two citizen members.
