Tanger Outlets National Harbor Opens in Prince George’s County
Prince George’s County Council Vice Chair Obie Patterson (D) – District 8, joined with County Executive Rushern Baker, III, Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. President and CEO Steven B. Tanger, Peterson Companies Chairman Milt Pearson, and Prince George’s County residents for the ribbon cutting and official grand opening of Tanger Outlets National Harbor on Friday, November 22, 2013.
Tanger Outlets National Harbor represents a private investment of almost $100 million dollars.  It is one of the largest retail economic development projects in the County and has created an estimated 600 jobs during construction and approximately 1,000 full and part-time retail jobs.
Vice Chair Patterson praised County leadership and all stakeholders for their efforts in bringing this major project to Prince George’s County, and thanked Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc.  President and CEO Steven Tanger, and Peterson Companies Chairman Milt Peterson for their investment in Prince George’s County and its residents.

Tanger Outlets National Harbor is estimated to create an additional $6.5 million dollars in annual sales tax revenue for the State of Maryland and approximately $1 million in property tax revenues to Prince George’s County.
All legislative powers of Prince George’s County are vested in the County Council.  The County Council sits as the District Council on zoning and land use policy, and as the Board of Health to govern and guide health policy.  The County Council meets as a legislative body on Tuesdays in the Council Hearing Room on the first floor of the County Administration Building in Upper Marlboro.  For more information on the Prince George’s County Council, please visit
