Event Highlights Prince George’s County and District Of Columbia Law Enforcement Partnerships

Prince George’s County Council Member Karen R. Toles (D) – District 7, will serve as Grand Marshal for the “First Annual Unity in the Community Parade and Festival” on Saturday, April 12, 2014.

Honoring law enforcement partnerships between Prince George’s County and the District of Columbia, “Unity in the Community” parade floats and motorized vehicles representing local communities, government, event sponsors, municipalities and local high school bands will begin moving through the parade route at 10:00 a.m. beginning at the intersection of Central Avenue and Addison Rd.

Council Member Toles encourages residents to support their local law enforcement officers during the inaugural “Unity in the Community” parade and festival.

“It is so important for us to support the men and women who work to keep our communities safe.  The Prince George’s County and Capitol Heights Police Departments, along with the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police, work closely together to monitor our neighborhoods and address the public safety concerns of residents in Prince George’s County and the District of Columbia.  This is a time for us to celebrate their accomplishments, in an environment that is fun for the entire family.  It promises to be a great day.”

Immediately following the parade, from Noon until 4:00 p.m., the community festival will commence, featuring local entertainment; interactive safety displays and demonstrations; and a “Main Street” where municipalities will share their rich histories with neighboring communities. District of Columbia Council Member Yvette Alexander will serve as festival Grand Marshall.
