UPPER MARLBORO, MD – The Prince George’s County Department of Corrections will add twenty three new officers to its roster at 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013. The swearing in ceremony and graduation will be held at Dr. Henry A. Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

Mary Lou McDonough, Director of the Department of Corrections will inspire the new officers and explain why working in corrections is more than just a job but a very rewarding career. The Oath of Office will be administered by Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Honorable Marilynn Bland.

Twenty six individuals have completed the rigorous 16 week correctional entrance level training academy including 3 civilians. The academy provides the officers with the training and knowledge necessary to enter the facility prepared to work with a tough population. All of the officers come from various backgrounds including corrections and are ready to accept the responsibility and learn the various roles that officers perform within the department.
