The Department of Corrections is a proud contributor to our partners at the United Way Combined Charities and along with other agencies, used a basketball game to raise funds for deserving nonprofits. Through the coordinated efforts of the Maryland National Capital Parks and Planning Commission, the Department of Public Works & Transportation and Department of Corrections (DOC), the logistics of a charity basketball game was envisioned, planned and held at the Cedar Heights Community Center in Landover, MD. The PGDOC Renegades competed against the DPW&T Ballaz in a thrilling game. The event featured drinks and snacks donated by Prince George’s Correctional Officers Association (PGCOA) and The American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME). DOC won the game in the final seconds with a score of 34-31. Proceeds from the event were donated to Breast Cancer Awareness Programs and various Education Programs throughout Prince George's County.
