Department of Corrections provides a safe, secure and humane environment for pre-trial and
sentenced offenders. Additional services and programs include
education, juvenile services, religious services, domestic violence,
barber styling school, nail technician, women's empowerment, substance
abuse drug treatment, and community re-entry.
The Office of Homeland Security is responsible for planning,
coordinating and domestic preparedness training and coordinates the county's
emergency management effort with various jurisdictions. Our mission
is to develop and maintain comprehensive emergency management programs.
Citizen Complaint Oversight Panel
Improves the climate of the relationship between the community and
the Police Department. We provide fair and
timely resolution of individual complaints.
Formalized in 1927 as a four-man County police force, today our Police Department (PGPD) serves approximately 800,000 citizens throughout the County. In 2012, the Department answered
close to 500,000 calls for service
The Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (Fire/EMS)
Department strives to improve the quality of life in Prince George’s
County by promoting safety, and providing the highest quality of fire
prevention, fire protection, emergency medical services, and community
outreach programs. The Fire/EMS Department
responded to over 122,600 calls for service last year.
