Commitment to Local, Small, & Minority Business Enterprises
Rushern L. Baker, III
Prince George's County is committed to creating and maintaining a world-class Local Small Minority Business Enterprise Program, and providing qualified and certified businesses equal access to Prince George's County procurement opportunities.
Prince George's County Code, Section 10A-136, requires the County Purchasing Agent to structure the procurement procedures and activities of the County to facilitate and encourage the award of at least thirty percent (30%) of the total dollar value of all County contracts awarded, directly or indirectly, to minority business enterprises. The County government actively encourages Local Small Minority Business Enterprises (LSMBEs) that provide quality products and services at competitive pricing to participate in our contracting and subcontracting activities. We believe in the value of a well-rounded business base.
We applaud the key role that LSMBEs play in the advancement of the national and local economy. LSMBEs are an essential element in the County's strategy for providing our customers and community with the most innovative customer focus service possible. The benefits that LSMBEs provide in the form of cost savings, innovations, quality, and integrity allow Prince George's County to provide the citizens of the County with best in class products and services.
We are committed to researching and recruiting the best LSMBEs to provide the products and services necessary for the successful operation of the County. We currently and will continue developing long-term relationships with LSMBEs, and we believe that creating a competitive, inclusive procurement environment will lead to more innovative solutions.
A strong Local Small Minority Business Enterprise Program allows Prince George's County to continue our commitment to economic development by increasing economic opportunities for LSMBEs. If you qualify as a LSMBE and are interested in doing business with Prince George's County, please visit the Supplier Development and Diversity Division web page and register.
Our mission is to maximize procurement opportunities with Prince George's County registered certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) as suppliers, prime contractors, and subcontractors of superior products and services to the citizenry of Prince George's County. We encourage the private and public sectors and local government to aggressively engage with MBEs to develop productive business relationships leading to economic growth for the County.
Create a "Great County" environment for businesses that embodies a standard of excellence, a level playing field and open competition that creates a marketplace where all businesses, regardless of race, gender, or creed, can equally compete and succeed.
