The Prince George's County Police Department offers:
- Competitive entry-level salary of $44,148
- Retirement benefits of 60 percent of annual salary after 20 years of service and up to 85 percent after 30 years of service
- Experienced police officers may be eligible for salary up to $52,971
- Twelve to fourteen paid holidays per year
- Excellent Medical Benefits: The county pays 75% of cost under Point Of Service; 80%
of cost under HMO
- Military leave of 15 days per year for those on active duty with the Reserve or National
Guard
- Thirteen days of annual leave during the first 3 years of employment, 20 days per
year after 3 years, and 26 days per year after 15 years
- Officers who reside in the county are assigned a personal patrol car for on and off duty use (based on availability).
Off duty use is limited to Prince George's County, and officers must be available for service if called upon.
- Annual clothing allowance of $1,300
- Annual fitness bonus of $450 (after completion of fitness test)
- A $1,400 pay differential for officers who pass Level II Foreign Language
Certification
- County Government pays for all Academy costs
