Let us prepare to bridge our understanding of the beginnings of our solar system by tracking the progress of the New Horizons mission to Pluto. To introduce you to the technological capabilities of the spacecraft itself, we first explore the universe at different wavelengths of light by using the planetarium to point out the locations of specific wonders of the visible and INVISIBLE night sky. Then we look at the tools onboard the New Horizons spacecraft used to probe the mysteries of these wonders. In addition to studying the New Horizons mission, we will take advantage of the planetarium setting to make observations of the current night sky, specifically focusing on the apparent magnitude of stars.
