The mission of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is to provide strong, independent and effective oversight of the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD), and to ensure that the PGPD, and its officers and employees act with honesty, integrity, dignity, and respect towards the public.

The OIG serves as an independent and objective inspection, audit and investigative body to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of PGPD  programs and operations, and to prevent and detect fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in PGPD programs and operations. 

“My focus is on transparency and accountability. The Prince George’s County Police Department is only as good as the faith the community has in it,” said Mr. Acosta.
