The following types of cases are not handled by the Prince George's County Financial Crimes Unit.

INTERNET FRAUD
These cases are handled by the United States Secret Service. This agency can be contacted by calling (202) 406-8000. Please note that both Ebay and Paypal have their own investigators and you should contact them first.

THEFT FROM MAILBOXES
The United States Postal Inspectors investigate all incidents of theft of checks, credit cards, bank statements, pre-approved credit cards, applications of credit cards, and boxes of new checks stolen from a mailbox. You may contact your local post office or postal inspector directly by calling 1 (410) 715-7700 or by their website www.usps.gov/websites/depart/inspect

LANDLORD/TENANT DISPUTES
These cases are handled by the Small Claims Court. Please call the District Court Clerks Office at 1 (301) 952-4080.

TELEMARKETING SCAMS
These cases are handled by the Maryland Attorney General at 1 (888) 743-0023.

SOCIAL SECURITY FRAUD
Please call the Social Security Administration at 1 (800) 492-5515.

TAX FRAUD
Please contact the Internal Revenue Service at 1(800) 829-0433 or by the website http://www.treas.gov/irs/ci/index.htm

THEFT OF DRIVER’S LICENSE INFO
Please contact the Department of Motor Vehicle Administration at 1 (410) 878-8490.

BANK FRAUD
These cases are investigated by the United States Secret Service. Please call the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council at www.ffiec.gov/enforcement.htm

HOME IMPROVEMENT COMPLAINTS
If the complaint is about the quality of work please contact the Home Improvement Commission at 1 (410) 230-6309. This matter can also be handled in civil court. If you paid for home improvements to be completed on your property, but the work was never started, your local Police District will investigate the crime. To begin the process an initial report has to be completed by either calling the Prince George’s County Police Department’s non emergency line at (301) 333-4000 or by responding to a District Station.

REAL ESTATE FRAUD
These cases are investigated by the Maryland Real Estate Commission; they can be contacted at 1 (410) 230-6200.

LABOR ISSUES
