Counterfeit Business Checks/Money Order

When you are the victim of a returned counterfeit business check/money order:

1. File an incident report with the Prince George's County Police Department, if the incident occurred within the jurisdictional limits of Prince George's County.
2. To file an incident report, call (301)333-4000. This will put you in touch with the Telephone Reporting Unit where you will be able to file an initial report over the telephone. You will then be issued a set of case numbers. The case number is the number the police department uses to file the report.

The officer you file the report with will contact the U.S. Secret Service to request that an agent respond to pick up the check from you. The U.S Secret Service will handle the investigation.
