Office of Intelligence & Protective Services

The Office of Intelligence & Protective Services is composed of the Homeland Security Liaison, Intelligence Section, Information Resource Management, and Executive Protective.

The mission of the Office of Homeland Security is to develop and maintain comprehensive emergency management programs. Through planning with the private sector, local, State and federal officials the Office works to develop a coordinated safety and preparedness strategy. The objective is to protect life, property and the environment from the effect of natural and man-made disasters, including terrorist acts. The Homeland Security Liaison serves as a contact point to the Office of Homeland Security for Prince George's County, Maryland.

Since the September 11th tragedy criminal intelligence information has been made available to a wider range of Department members. This improved flow of information has served to strengthen law enforcement's ability to combat crime in general. The Intelligence Section has fulfilled this role collecting, evaluating and channeling pertinent information throughout the Department.

Information Resources Management handles the management of Departmental computer equipment and services. It coordinates with outside agencies for computer maintenance, website management, and the exploration, setup and implementation of new technology. Geographical Information Systems mapping and Data Analysis is managed from this office providing units with verity of data, maps and information tailored to end users specifications. This technology greatly enhances the ability of members to perform their mission.

Executive Protection provides escort and protective services to the County Executive in the execution of that office. The unit also addresses security related issues and manages security at selected County buildings.
