County Council and Hospital Union Leaders Cancel Joint Press Conference

Action Taken Out of Respect for Virginia Tech Tragedy

Today’s scheduled joint press conference with the Prince George’s County Council and the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO, has been cancelled. 

President, Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO, Joslyn Williams, in an email transmission this morning to the County Council requested the cancellation “in light of yesterday’s tragic events at Virginia Tech, which have left our entire nation shaken,” and Council Chair Camille Exum agreed.

Mr. Williams added, “This does not in any way diminish the urgency of the Prince George’s Hospital crisis and – as we all struggle to cope with the senseless tragedy in Virginia – I hope that the Council will continue its efforts to re-engage with all parties concerned to save Prince George’s County Hospital.”
