Peggy Magee

Clerk of the Circuit Court for Prince George's County, Maryland

The Honorable Peggy Magee, Esq. Has traveled and lived around the world but now calls Prince George’s her home.  She is committed to serve the residents of Prince George’s County.

Ms. Magee served 20 years in the United States Air Force from 1976 to 1996 as a Communications Crypto Maintenance Specialist.  Successfully breaking barriers, she was one of the first women to enter this career field.  She was also the first woman to be named First Sergeant among the Presidential Airlift Group squadrons and Special Air Missions squadrons, a most coveted position. Ms. Magee was recognized by the United States Air Force for Excellency in service with many declarations and awards.

While still on active duty in the United States Air Force, Ms. Magee received her Bachelor of Science in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland University College.  Three years later she received her Juris Doctor from Catholic University Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC. In 2005, she was certified as a Public Manager by George Washington University, Washington, DC.

In 1997, Ms. Magee served as Law Clerk to the Honorable G. R. Hovey Johnson, Judge for the Seventh Circuit of Maryland.  She later became an Assistant State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County in 1998.  In 2002, Ms. Magee served as Executive Assistant to the Honorable Jack B. Johnson, Prince George’s County Executive.  In 2004, Ms. Magee was appointed Executive Director of Prince George’s County Human Relations Commission.

Ms. Magee is a member and former Steward and Trustee of Jerusalem African Methodist Episcopal Church and a member of the following organizations: American Legion Glenarden Post 275, Rotary International Club of Bladensburg, Kiwanis International Mitchellville Chapter, National Council of Negro Women Mitchellville Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen East Coast Chapter, American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Maryland Bar Association, and the Prince George’s County Bar Association.

After a successful county wide race in 2006, Ms. Magee now serves as the elected Clerk of the Circuit Court of Prince George’s County, Maryland
