The Land Records Department acts as custodian for the recording and maintenance of all public records connected to real estate in Prince George's County. All information in Land Records is public information and is obtained by self-research. However, the law prohibits the clerks from providing legal assistance or performing title searches.
Contact Land Records for Recording or state transfer tax fees or for any other inquiries regarding Land Records.
All documents are returned by mail, provided a return address is provided on the document. If no address is provided, these items must be picked up in person in the Land Records office.

Record Processing for Deeds
Recording deeds in Prince George's County involves several requirements. The two (2) steps required to record a deed are listed below. You must take the necessary paperwork to the following locations.

You must have the original and full copy of the deed that’s being recorded and the State of Maryland land instrument intake sheet.
Please be prepared to pay the necessary fees at the time of recording. The Clerk's Office accepts cash, checks, money orders and credit cards.
The following items must be recorded to be maintained as permanent records. The copy is being provided for the Department of Assessments and Taxation.
