While working her assigned channel, Ms. Easton received and dispatched Prince George's County Police Officers to a call for a possible breaking and entering of a residence.<br><br>Upon arrival, the police officers observed three (3) fleeing suspects but were able to make an apprehension on four (4) others on the scene without injury. Those fleeing suspects were later apprehended at a nearby location.<br><br>Ms. Easton maintained channel discipline throughout the call for service, simultaneously entered updates to the CAD system, and played a vital role in the successful conclusion of the incident. ";

Mr. Shiplett received an emergency 9-1-1 telephone call from a male reportedly inside a business establishment with fifteen (15) other consumers being held against their will by an unknown male with a gun.<br /><br /> Mr. Shiplett quickly confirmed the location of the business establishment, entered the emergency service call for the Prince George's County Police Department to be dispatched.  He remained on the telephone call with the victim, keeping him calm while simultaneously updating the computer aided dispatch system (CAD) with pertinent information. <br /><br />The expedious response of the police department and the professional manner in which Mr. Shiplett handled this volatile emergency situation resulted in the successful resolution of the incident without injury to any customers in the business establishment.";

While working his assigned channel, Mr. Williams received and immediately dispatched a call to assist a Prince George's County, Fire/EMS Paramedic unit involved in a motor vehicle accident with a patient aboard.<br /><br /> Mr. Williams acted expeditiously to acquire an accurate location while repeatedly reassuring the paramedic that assistance was on the way.  First responders were able to quickly locate the accident scene and successfully transport the paramedic and patient to the hospital for medical assistance.";

While working her assigned channel, a Prince George's Deputy Sheriff made notification over a land-line telephone that he had fallen into a deep hole during a foot pursuit of a suspect and was unsure of his exact location. <br /><br />Ms. Newman-Benford immediately entered the call for service into the computer aided dispatch system, directed additional patrol units to respond to the general area, made notification to the Shift Supervisor and other nearby emergency dispatchers and placed the dispatch channel in an 'emergency transmission' status. <br /><br />The Deputy Sheriff was eventually located by the Prince George's County, Police Department and he was transported to a local hospital for medical assistance by the Prince George's County, Fire/EMS Department.";

capText[7] = "Emergency Dispatcher II, LaLeisha Colbert has been selected as Employee of the Month for July 2009. While working her assigned channel, a Prince George's County Police Officer notified Ms. Colbert that he was in pursuit of a vehicle wanted for a possible carjacking. <br /><br />Ms. Colbert immediately entered the call for service into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System.  Due to the seriousness of this vehicle pursuit, Ms. Colbert dispatched additional patrol units to the vicinity; self initiated the assistance of 'AIR-1' from the Prince George's County Aviation Unit and a 'K-9' Unit from the Special Operations Division Unit. <br /><br />Ms. Colbert remained calm, composed and professional throughout the call for service that required maintaining channel discipline, entering continuous updates into the CAD System and played a vital role in the apprehension of the suspect without injury.";

While working her assigned channel, Ms. Lucas was primarily responsible for the successful coordination of a multi-jurisdictional vehicle chase of a suspect who was wanted for questioning in a double homicide that ultimately ended in Washington, DC.  The suspect was subsequently fatally shot by the police officers. Throughout the lengthy vehicle pursuit, Ms. Lucas remained focused, maintained radio discipline and continuously entered updates into the CAD system that involved frequent location changes throughout the neighboring jurisdiction.";

While working her assigned channel, Ms.McCormick received a call for additional back up from a police officer who had been struck by a shoplifting suspect&#8217;s vehicle that resulted in a departmental shooting.  Several Prince George&#8217;s County Police Officers, Deputy Sheriffs&#8217; and a University Park Police Officer were immediately dispatched to the scene.<br/><br/> Upon arrival, two (2) suspect apprehensions were made on the scene.  Fortunately, the police officer sustained a non-life threatening injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment and released.  Ms. McCormick remained calm in demeanor and maintained radio discipline throughout this extremely stressful incident.";
