Goals & Objectives
- Maintain a reference database of all multicultural institutions, including faith-based, business, educational, political, cultural and philanthropic organizations.
- Assist multicultural communities to access various programs provided by the Federal, State and County agencies to nonprofit organizations representing African-Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans and Native Americans, among others.
- Support and promote multicultural celebrations, such as Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Asian and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month, Native American Heritage Month, Martin Luther King's birthday, Cinco de Mayo, and Arab Heritage Month.
- Help resolve issues affecting ethnic communities by working with relevant community groups, governmental commissions, media, businesses and other groups.
- Identify and communicate to the County Executive those issues, concerns and needs of the various ethnic communities in Prince George's County.
- Ensure availability of translations for various public periodicals published by the County.
- Respond to all correspondence, telephone calls, electronic mail and walks-ins concerning County programs and services that require translation.
- Develop web-base citizen "Suggestion Box" that would enable citizens to directly input their concerns in an effort to determine the level of citizens' satisfaction.
- Deploying staff to neighborhoods to meet and greet citizens in an effort to build better relationship through a face-to-face interaction.
