The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is a partnership between the Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and the Maryland State DHCD/Single Family Special Loan Program. The WAP helps eligible low income households with the installation of energy conservation measures that increase energy efficiency by focusing on the problems of heat loss and air infiltration. These measures reduce energy consumption and the cost of maintenance for weatherized homes. In addition to the material improvements, energy conservation education is provided to participants.
To qualify, a household must:
Meet minimum income requirements of 200 % of Poverty and no more than 60 % of State Median Income; *Lower income scale given priority.

Be elderly (60+), disabled, or a family with children under 5 years of age and/or have high/excessive energy consump-tion; (Preference given to elderly homeowners); and
Not have received services through WAP since 1999.
