CHDO Programs
Set-Aside Activities
The Housing Development Division provides financial and technical assistance to CHDOs for the acquisition and/or rehabilitation of rental housing; new construction of rental housing; acquisition and/or rehabilitation of homebuyer properties; new construction of homebuyer properties; and direct financial assistance to purchasers of HOME-assisted housing sponsored or developed by a CHDO with HOME funds.
Operating Assistance
The Housing Development Division provides direct operating assistance to CHDOs that are receiving set-aside funds for an activity (or activities) or are under a written agreement to receive set-aside funds within 24 months of the date of the agreement.
Capacity Building
The Housing Development Division annually provides a recertification conference for all existing CHDOs. The conference provides each CHDO with the necessary tools to expand its capacity and supplements other activities provided during the year. Semi-annually the Division provides certification conferences to non-profit organizations interested in becoming CHDOs. These conferences provide the information necessary to become a successful CHDO. |
