The Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) removes
and performs elevation trimming of trees that are in the County rights-of-way.
The County trees must be maintained to control their growth and to assure
that they don't present a safety hazard to motorists or pedestrians by obstructing
sight distances. The Department provides or coordinates this service on
a 5-7 year basis, in addition to removing dead trees as necessary.
To report a down tree or tree limb, please call 301-499-8520, Monday thru
Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM. except Holidays. For after hours emergencies,

Trees on private property are the responsibility of the homeowner. Removal
of limbs from private property should be directed to the Department
of Environmental Resources at (301) 952-7630.
Removal of trees on private property should be directed to the Department
of Natural Resources, Forestry Division, at (301) 888-9214.
