2008 Adopted Water and Sewer Plan

The Water and Sewer Plan is the embodiment of the County’s goals, objectives and legal requirements for providing water and sewer service in Prince George’s County. Together with other operational plans, such as solid waste, housing and transportation, the Water and Sewer Plan provides guidance for the implementation of the County’s General Plan and Area Master Plans.

The Water and Sewer Plan (the Plan) documents existing water resources and wastewater treatment capacities, and identifies needed mechanisms to meet future demand. The Plan serves as a tool to implement the land use plan found in the County’s General Plan.

The Water and Sewer Plan for Prince George's County acts as a statement of policy and as a working document. As a policy statement, the Plan implements the land use and development policies set by the County. As a working document, it guides the County planning and development processes by setting out the criteria under which both public and private water and sewer services can be provided.
