Our Mission
To manage fiscal, personnel and technology resources, community/legislative affairs, Boards and Commissions, and public outreach activities in furtherance of the Department's overall mission. The Administrative Services Division (ASD) oversees resources within the Department to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services, and maintains partnerships and relations with citizens in both the private and public sectors.
Budget and Procurement Section (BPS)

The Budget and Procurement Section (BPS) manages the Agency’s budget and procurement programs through fiscal planning and oversight of the General Fund, Solid Waste Management Enterprise Fund, Stormwater Management Enterprise Fund, and Capital Improvement Programs.
BPS prepares and monitors the annual proposed operating and capital budgets to ensure compliance with the County's fiscal and financial policies, and processes and reviews requisitions for the purchase of materials and services for the Department.
Communications Section (CS)

The Communications Section advances the overall mission of the Department through public outreach, special events, media facilitation and publications/graphics development. The Section is tasked with the compilation and layout of every publication and form distributed by the Department, to include division brochures, informational packets, flyers, public notices, postcards and business cards.
Additionally, the Section is responsible for coordinating all media relations
(press releases,
media advisories, resource gathering for press calls and
public service
announcements) and special events participation requests
for the Department (displays, promotional items, information dissemination).
Community and Legislative Affairs Section

The Community and Legislative Affairs Section provides customers
with information related to the Department’s services and programs,
and investigates complaints related to cemeteries to ensure
they are run in compliance with the Code requirements governing perpetual
care. In addition
to investigating every cemetery complaint registered, field
visits are performed to at least two randomly selected county cemeteries annually.
The Section also manages the DERcares website. Customers are
encouraged to voice their complaints, comments and/or concerns
about the Department’s
services through DERcares@co.pg.md.us.
Human Resources Section (HRS)

HRS provides comprehensive, professional and timely human resources services to the Department’s internal and external customers. They are responsible for providing guidance to Departmental
staff related to personnel policies and procedures, and for coordinating
and conducting training programs for DER staff.

Information and Technology Section (ITS)

The Information and Technology Section is responsible for the delivery of timely, accurate, up-to-date, secure, reliable and uninterrupted technology services to the Department of Environmental Resources. Tasked with developing effective security and data integrity, and monitoring work flow, hardware, cable and switching gear capacities, ITS is essential to the Department’s success in maintaining stability in all office operations.
Delivered services include all office
applications, e-mail, Internet access, mapping and data back-up. |
