The Office of Boards
and Commissions supports the overall mission of the Department’s operating
Groups by administering the work of various Boards and Commissions, overseeing
complaints and appeals, scheduling hearings and meetings, and scheduling
proficiency examinations.
Board of Registration of Building Contractors

The Office of Boards and Commissions (OBC) manages
the Prince George’s
County Board of Registration for Building Contractors. Concerns such as
application approval/denial and Show Cause Hearing items should be directed
to the OBC. The Building Contractors Board meets the 2nd Tuesday of each

The deadline for submitting applications is the last
day of each month by close of business. The Board reviews all
timely applications the following

for Animal Control

The Office of Boards
and Commissions (OBC) has oversight for the Commission for
Animal Control. OBC
processes the following
items for review by the Commission:
- Return of animals
impounded by the Animal Management Group (AMD)
- Requests
to appeal citations received from AMD· Animal nuisance
complaints (excessive barking, running at large, odor, etc)
- Hearing
Requests (must be submitted in writing)
Hearings are
held the 2nd and 4th Wednesday
of each month, 9:30
a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at:

animal cruelty,
pit bull sightings, wildlife,
dead animals, farm animals or livestock, and

The Office
of Boards and Commissions
(OBC) manages the Board of Registration for Master
Electricians, Journeyman Electricians, Apprentice
Electricians, Electrical Contractors
and Electrical
Subcontractors. Relative issues include continuing
education credits, show cause hearings, application
approval/denial concerns
and electrical examination
results. The Board meets the 2nd Thursday in
January, March, May, July, September and November. Show
Cause Hearings are scheduled
concurrently,
as necessary. The Board meetings are held at:

Show Cause Hearings

Show Cause Hearings are
held 2-3 times per month, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Important
Tips:
- Customers are encouraged to pay
for the release of their vehicle.
DO NOT wait for the Hearing. Storage fees
are incurred
daily.
- Requests
for Show Cause Hearings must
be made within 21 days of vehicle impound.
- There
are 3 types of tows (1)Vehicle Audit;
(2) Police; and (3) Private.· Customers
should direct civil issues or
complaints concerning towing companies
to civil
court. They are not covered under
Show Cause
Hearings.
- Applicants
will be notified of the Vehicle Hearing
Officer’s decision
via mail.
