Adoption Success Stories
I adopted my adorable feline two years ago from the PG Animal Management Group. I saw the success stories and had to write!
I made three trips to the PGC AMG between fall '03 and early '04. I was looking for a small to medium dog due to my house size, somewhere between a pekinese and a cocker spaniel.
I'd see a dog on the website, when I visited they would be "going home - please choose one of our other friends." There were so many wonderful dogs, majority large... I wanted to take them all! Choosing just one can be difficult.
I drove on a cold January day to "the pound" for a third time - just to look. I walked around, my heart melting, so many sweet dogs! A third way through the facility I noticed a little skinny, skittish black dog with huge scared eyes. She was just the right size but hesitant I was, she looked so timid thinking she might be a "biter.
I asked the attendant if the dog could be brought into the visiting area. I watched as he escorted her out of the kennel. Once out she immediately perked up! Her ears snapping to attention and her short nub of a tail wagging. I knew she was the one for me. Now to see how many applications were ahead of me! I held my breath. There were NONE, I was overjoyed!
I found out that she was on humane hold. My heart sunk. I had inquired about a beagle on my first visit. The beagle was still there in a humane dispute and had two other pending applications. I decided I would take my chances with this little black and brown cutie.
A week later the AMG called me... I could come pick her up that week! I literally yelled, "YYEEEEEEEAAAAAAA" into the phone - the worker laughing at my response. Later that week was homecoming. How long ago that day seems...
Naming her Magnolia (Maggie for short) was a good call, she blossomed from a petite bud into a beautiful flower. Skinny and shy she is no longer! We are the best of friends and I adore her, as she does me. Thanks for letting me share. Attached is her picture. Heather Ware (Brentwood, Maryland)
