Prince George's County, MD - Department of Environmental Resources (DER) : Animal Management Group

To provide for the health and welfare of the County’s animal population through enforcement of the Animal Control Ordinance, resolution of animal-related disputes, and the promotion of adoptions, licensing, spay/neuter, and humane education. The Animal Management Group (AMG) assists the citizens of Prince George's County with a full range of situations involving animals. This is accomplished through programs established under Subtitle 3-Animal Control of the County Code. AMG operates the Animal Services Facility for the holding of dogs and cats that are impounded. The Facility redeems animals to owners and coordinates the adoption of animals that are not claimed. AMG tracks lost and found animals reported to or picked up by Animal Control Officers.

Spaying and Neutering

Each year, millions of unwanted and homeless animals are born in this country. Of those that end up in shelters, some will be adopted, but many will be "put to sleep" (euthanized). One of the most important things you can do for your pet is to have it spayed or neutered.

It is also advisable to visit our shelter periodically. Bring in a picture of your pet to match with the lost report. If you have found an animal that you believe is someone's pet:
