Opportunities for High School Students

The state of Maryland permits students 16 years of age who are not registered voters to serve as Election Judges. 

 

Qualifications


The minor (who is not a registered voter) must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Local Election Board that he or she meets the qualifications for registration in the county. Online Voter Registration
 


Registration & Status


Students may register to vote if they are at least 16 years old but cannot vote unless you will be at least 18 years old by the next general election.

 

Student Independent Service Learning


Students may elect to earn Student Independent Service Learning hours in lieu of payment. 

 

Work Hours


If selected to serve, Student Judges only work 12 hours, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
