Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA)

A $100 minimum administrative fee will be assessed for all Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA) requests, including requests where the search and review process determines that no recordings or documents may be provided. An additional fee of $100 per hour may be assessed for requests that require more than two (2) hours to produce. All information related to the request and incident must be provided, and all payments must be received before processing any request.

Prince George’s County Public Safety Communications is pleased to provide an online process for requesting Audio Recordings through the Maryland Public Information Act. This process is very effective and efficient

Online payments may be made by eCheck/ACH, Credit Card, or Debit Card. An eCheck/ACH service fee of $1.50 applies.
Visa debit payments will incur a service fee of $3.95. A service fee of 2.45% of the amount paid will be applied to each credit and debit card transaction.

Subpoena Duces Tecum Requests for Audio Recordings


To obtain a copy of an audio recording as evidence in a criminal or civil matter, please submit the subpoena and the $100 fee to the Public Safety Communications Audio Unit. All requests must be made using the online form. Research and reproduction fees will be waived for requests submitted from the Prince George’s County Office of the State’s Attorney, County Attorney, and Office of the Public Defender.

Print or Television Media Audio Recording Requests


All print or television media requests for audio recordings must be submitted as an MPIA request through the Prince George's County Executive's Press Information Officer.
