Exemption to the Special Entertainment Permit

Section 26-1103 provides the Board with the authority to issue an exemption to the Special Entertainment Permit that authorizes entertainment at a licensed establishment that the Board determines is in the principal business of providing family entertainment.

Establishments that obtain an Exemption to the Special Entertainment Permit are prohibited from:

  • Carding potential patrons at the entrance to the establishment (patrons should be carded at their seat), as appropriate
  • Restricting patron entrance due to age
  • Searching potential patrons at the entrance
  • Imposing a cover charge or other fee not directly applied to food and beverage costs
  • Requiring food or drink minimums
  • Offering patrons VIP Seating at an additional cost

The exemption is issued annually; the request for renewal of the exemption must be filed annually between July 1st and August 1st
