The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred inUniversity Park, Maryland.
On December 01, 2003, at approximately 12:41 p.m., officers responded to the 4400 block of East West Highway for an injured
child.
The victim1-year old RovertoOrlando Martinez of the 5300 block of Towson Road in Bladensburgwalked outside of the residence, into the backyard, and fell into the swimming pool.
He was found unconscious.
Martinez remained unconscious until he was pronounced dead on April 14, 2005 at Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC.
On April 22, 2005, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the victim’s death a homicide, as a result of injuries sustained
while the victim was under the supervision of a 50-year old child care provider from University Park.
