Arrest Made in Homicide on Old Branch Avenue

             Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department has made an arrest in a homicide that occurred in Clinton, Maryland.  Cortez Maurice Mallory, 19 years old, was arrested today on a warrant charging him with First Degree Murder.  Mr. Mallory is from the 6200 block of Arbutus Lane in Clinton, Maryland.

On January 4, 2005, at approximately 10:32 p.m., police responded to the 7700 block of Old Branch Avenue for the report of a shooting.  When officers arrived, they discovered two male victims with gunshot wounds.  One victim died and the other was transported to a local hospital. His injuries are non-life threatening.

The incident is the result from some type of argument. The deceased victim has been identified as 17-year old Alexander Collins Barnett of Clinton, Maryland.

“Our detectives are actively investigating leads now. We will work non-stop until those responsible are brought to justice,” says Police Chief Melvin C. High.
