UPPER MARLBORO, MD – The County would like to alert Prince George’s County Comcast cable subscribers to pay particular attention to their July
bills and review the enclosed Arbitration Notice and exercise their right to “opt out” of this agreement by July 31st.
The notice was sent in the form of a “bill stuffer” to over 100,000 Comcast County cable subscribers without any prior input
or consultation with the County government. The purpose of the notice is to amend the current subscriber agreement in order
to have continued use of their cable services. The arbitration clause limits subscriber’s rights. The subscriber’s best
protection is to “opt out” of the policy within 30 days from the date of receipt of their July bill.
The County is preparing a letter to Comcast Officials to express its grave concerns and strong opposition to the manner in
which this plan was implemented. The letter will also propose that subscribers should have a longer window of time to respond
and review their cable options.
To exercise your legal rights, go online to www.comcast.com/arbitrationoptout and opt out now. Prior to calling, make sure you have a copy of your Comcast bill so that you can enter your entire customer
account number as it appears on the bill. If you have problems, call 1-800-COMCAST (1-800-266-2278). You should keep a copy
of the form for your records.
You can also write a note to Comcast please include your name, address, Comcast account number, and a statement that you do
not wish to resolve disputes with Comcast through arbitration, and then mail to: Comcast, 1500 Market Street, Philadelphia,
PA 19102, ATTN: Legal Department/Arbitration. You should also keep a copy of the letter you send to Comcast.
