Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in
Capitol Heights, Maryland.
On July 23, 2005, at approximately 10:33 p.m., officers responded to the area of Clovis Avenue and Heath Street for the report
of a shooting. When they arrived on the scene, officers found 19-year-old Solomon Powell Coleman of the 1200 block of Foyer
Avenue in Capitol Heights, lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene and transported
to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, Maryland for an autopsy.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were involved in a physical altercation. The suspect, 20-year-old
Terrell Edward Johnson of the 4200 block of Massachusetts Avenue in Washington D.C., produced a weapon and shot the victim
multiple times before fleeing the scene.
On July 24, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., the suspect turned himself into police. He has been charged with First Degree Murder and was
remanded to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
