Council Member Tony Knotts is serving his second full term as the Eighth Councilmanic District representative on the Prince George's County Council. His constituent area includes Camp Springs, Clinton, Forest Heights, Fort Washington, Glass Manor, Marlow Heights, Oxon Hill, and Temple Hills.

Council Member Knotts was first elected to the County Council on May 21, 2002, and reelected November 5, 2002 to serve a four-year term in office. He immediately assumed a leadership role as Council Vice-Chair for the 2003 Legislative Year. The following year, Council Member Knotts served as Chair of the Prince George’s County Council for the 2004 Legislative Year.

Currently, Council Member Knotts serves as Vice-Chair of the Council Public Safety and Fiscal Management Committee, and as a member of the Council Transportation Housing and the Environment Committee. Mr. Knotts serves on the Transportation Planning Board of the Metropolitan Council of Governments and on the Board of the Economic Development Corporation for Prince George’s County.

Council Member Knotts is a lifelong resident of Prince George's County, currently residing in Temple Hills. He is a graduate of Fairmount Heights High School, where he was a substitute teacher while pursuing a Masters Degree. Council Member Knotts earned an Undergraduate Degree in Political Science, and a Masters Degree in Administrative Management from Bowie State University. He also holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Council Member Knotts has a long history of community service. He maintains membership in a host of citizen associations and an active membership in the Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington, Maryland.

Council Member Knotts’ professional affiliations include the Coalition of Concerned Black Christian Men and the South County Economic Development Association among others. Council Member Knotts is a Vietnam War Veteran having served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Council Member Knotts has embraced a recurring theme since taking office. "We will continue to make the right decisions for the right reasons to guide our County into the future. After all, it is all about the people."
